Resources / Adnoddau

Mae’r adnoddau hyn yn gyffredinol ar gyfer defnyddwyr di-Gymraeg heb unrhyw wybodaeth gefndirol, er mae’n debyg iawn bydd rhai pethau yma o ddiddordeb i bawb.
These resources are in general for non-Welsh users that may not have any background knowledge, although there are things here likely to be of interest to all.

Other websites of interest:

The National Library of Wales: contains many online texts including the digitised manuscript of the Book of Taliesin.

– The Celtic Literature Collective: online texts, although the older translations used need to be treated with caution. Most medieval Welsh texts of interest are included.

– Wikipedia: good general introductions to the Mabinogion; The Four Branches of the Mabinogi; Welsh Poetry; Medieval Welsh Literature; Taliesin; King Arthur; Druids; Bards.

– Will Parker’s websites: both contain a good selection of sources, information as well his own musings on various aspects of medieval Welsh prose in general: mabinogion.info and more specifically on the Four Branches: mabinogi.net.

The Celtic Myth Podshow: modern, dramatised re-tellings of Irish and Welsh myth in English.

Paul Dooley: fantastic Irish harper who recorded music from the Welsh ‘ap Huw’ manuscript, the earliest notated harp music in the world.

Datgeiniaeth: a page about a research project that I took part in looking at medieval bardic declamation. Includes video of performances.

Pronunciation guide for some names from the Four Branches.
